The number 2 horizontal steam engine has always been a popular steam engine to construct and the simplicity of it makes it an ideal first engine for beginners. The flywheel is 3 3/8” diameter, the bedplate is 2/1/2” wide by 7 ½” long by 1” deep. The engine can be built on a small lathe.
